Safety comes first. And it need not be expensive. Icnvrge, a division of Softspin Services, an IT services firm, has launched a social initiative which makes use of its server capacity to instil a sense of security in citizens.
The initiative, Saviour, allows mobile users to register a missed call on Softspin’s server in an emergency. The server in turn sends text messages to any number of pre-saved numbers anywhere in the world with details like the location of the call, the mobile service provider and the country. The service, in effect, alerts one’s friends and family that help is needed.
Softspin’s server number needs to be saved under a speed dial on a mobile or a landline to enable a quick call. “A message also reaches the caller saying that help is on its way. Even if the network is jammed, messages do pass through as they don’t require much bandwidth,” Vinay Sathe, managing director, Softspin said.
Saviour is available for a lifetime registration fee of Rs 200 and a yearly subscription of Rs 120. Each emergency call is charged at Rs 9 for individuals. Companies can also subscribe to the service on behalf of employees. “The cost per employee does not exceed Rs 7, when registered for around five thousand employees. So, I think it is a cost-effective proposition ,” added Vinay. Softspin has invested over Rs 10 lakh in Saviour.
The firm has over 15 mobile licensed software product and patents registered under its own brand. Softspin is the only accreditation partner in India for Symbian and Nokia Sr60-based skills assessment.
