Dismiss the snotty title, and you have a compilation of 100 clubs (the oldest, Calcutta Cricket & Football Club, 1792; the most recent, Jaypee Greens Golf Resorts, 2001) including those tucked away in quaint, forgotten towns like Coorg and Digboi. A mammoth task to which 47 authors have contributed, the text ends up reading like reports for most part, so even the few anecdotes are difficult to glean. The forced design too tends to resemble an annual report.

But if you're looking for some "amazing anecdots" [sic], here's one writer's account of an event at a tea club: "After removing the first curtain you get to see all the ladies showing their thighs one by one and then vote for best of three thighs...[An assistant director] got so excited that he pulled her panties down and it was havoc in the club." Er, not very "elite" clubbing, or language, gentlemen. Koi editor hai?
