This is the sixth instalment of the culty Adrian Mole series. It begins with Mole, now 34, cancelling his vacation to Cyprus because of a Tony Blair speech cautioning Britain on the Islamic world's Weapons of Mass Destruction. The travel agency refuses to refund his booking. From there to his buying a studio apartment, his baby-boomer parents' refusal to live the retired life, his involvement with a dotty dollhouse maker called Marigold and his myriad money problems repopulate the Mole world. In between, questions are raised on the nature of war, since one of Mole's sons is in Iraq with the British Army. Mole is reassuring in his inability to do anything right, and yet appealing because of just that.
