This book, with a foreword by Suman Bery, offers a magnified look at the financial flows of the Indian economy. Data of all recorded payments/receipts may be represented through a two-way "Social Accounting Matrix" (SAM), a construct first proposed by Richard Stone to study such phenomena as the "multiplier", and this book uses not-yet-outdated numbers from national accounts and NCAER surveys to show money transfers within the system. To aid policymaking, this new SAM presents the data in a way that helps trace the relationship between the economy's structure of production and distribution of income. What's new here is the disaggregation of data by as many as 60 sectors.
