Ever felt out of touch with people? Cliche therapy may work. There's Dale Carnegie's How To..., but there's also John Maxwell's book. It is about what comes after "sorry" (empathy, what else?). He doesn't hammer it in, though.

"How's business?" Hobbes asks Calvin, in the book's only comic insert. "Terrible... I can't understand it," replies Calvin, "Everybody I know needs what I'm selling"""a kick in the butt, $1.00, as it says on his kiosk.

How to win people? He could go about with folded hands (the sab-chalta-hai model); alternately, scold people to get them off that drug selling across the road (the patriarchal model): or sell some lovely lemonade, aweing people with fizz ""only to show them how it's made (the Joseph Priestley way).
