Infiniti Bay, a luxury second home project in Goa, aims to cater to owners' every whim and fancy.

Read on...but only if you happen to be super rich. For it’s only that segment of society which remains unaffected by the economic downturn in many parts of the world, including India.

And it is this segment that Vishal Chaudhry and Sachin Goel of FHL and Ajay Agarwal and Manit Jain of Conscient are targetting for the villas at Infiniti Bay, an uber-luxury housing project in Goa that they are promoting. Says Chaudhry, director, FHL, “We are positioning this project as a high-end holiday home, providing every single thing that one needs in a home.”

That isn’t an idle boast. For instance, imagine arriving in Goa and walking into your holiday home that is perfectly maintained and every possible creature comfort taken care off — including the sheets tucked neatly into the bed. Says Chaudhry, “We will be providing all the soft furnishings, even the works of art on the wall. Basically, we wanted to bring in a level of luxury that many don’t even have in their homes.”

The property, located on top of a hill, overlooks the Zuari river and is about seven minutes driving distance from the airport. The five-acre complex, when completed in November 2009, will house 23 villas and 20 apartments. Each villa will be fitted with two swimming pools, while the apartments will have one Infiniti pool (yes, that’s where the project gets its name).

There will also be an in-house spa as well as a yacht which the owners of individual villas and apartments can book and use. Says Agarwal, director, Conscient, “The yatch is an added benefit and the owners will get to use the boat almost free of cost.”

Chaudhry says that Indian consumers of luxury today “want to feel pampered”. Working on that insight, the promoters have paid a lot of attention to detail to ensure the comfort of the residents of Infiniti Bay. So there will be golfcarts inside the complex, which will be free of vehicles, for residents to drive around in. And then of course there will be limos available for everyone, be it for airport pick-ups and drops or just a spin around the happening spots of Goa.

In the architectural design as well, Agarwal and Chaudhry have taken pains to ensure distinctiveness. “We wanted to create a design style that does not exist in Goa,” says Chaudhry. The brief to the architect, Ashwin Alva, was to maximise the view from every plot. Says Agarwal, “At the design stage, a lot of emphasis was put on bringing about a harmony between the inside and the outside. We want everyone to be able to see something green or blue when they are inside.”

The promoters are hoping that the 30 million Indians who are estimated to have the deep pockets to afford a second home will not baulk at their price points. The villas are priced at around Rs 3 crore and the apartments at Rs 2 crore apiece.

“Indians haven’t been offered this kind of holiday home earlier. And people now really want to spend,” says Agarwal. Adds Chaudhry, “There is a huge demand for Goa. A lot of people come to Goa regularly and want a second home there. Goa is now a lifestyle choice. Also, it is very well-connected and that helps when people are deciding on a location to buy a second home.”

The promoters are also promising buyers that all maintenance work will be their responsibility. Owners, who will come to Goa to have a good time, need not worry about leaking faucets (as if the super rich spend too much time worrying about these mundane matters even in their regular homes!). Says Chaudhry, “We will manage the property completely.”

Chaudhry has the final word when he says, “It’s going to be totally customised and personalised. Everything is going to be as our customers want it.”

It is luxury indeed to have so much thought paid to your every whim and fancy. The rest is just the icing on a very, very creamy cake.
