Andre Tolme recently completed an adventurous round of golf that took him nine months to go through 18 holes in Mongolia.

This extreme golfer played across the length of the country where each hole measures up to 196,000 yards. And he did so with a vehicle, a tent and a 3-iron.

The 35-year-old player from New Hampshire divided the entire length of the country into 18-holes, with a full length of 1,234 miles.

He estimated par to be 11,880 strokes and in the end, he was 290-over par having lost a mere 509 balls.

With assistance from his caddie Khatanbaatar who drove the jeep, Tolme, survived dangerous bugs, high heat and wind of up to 40 mph to pioneer the game of "extreme golf".

Golf and charity

Two-time British Open Champion and Australian golf legend Greg Norman and his wife are encouraging couples to play golf and contribute to child cancer research.

Norman is promoting "Golf for Living," an innovative program in eight of the PGA events in the US this summer.

With a $50 donation, couples are automatically entered into a sweepstakes for an all-expenses trip to the Franklin Templeton Shootout that Norman hosts in Naples, Florida. The money goes to CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation.

US PGA winners

Once the domain of American players, the PGA Tour now has more winners from other parts of the world. International players have won eight of the last ten tournaments.

They include Ernie Els (South Africa), Sergio Garcia (Spain), Goosen (South Africa), Adam Scott (Australia), Ames (Trinidad & Tobago), Mark Hensby (Australia), Carlos Franco (Paraguay) and Vijay Singh (Fiji). The only US players to win in that span were Todd Hamilton and Jonathan Byrd.

Win for Tiger

Hank Kuehne and partner Tiger Woods won the Lincoln Financial Battle at the Bridges beating Phil Mickelson and John Daly 2 and 1 last week.

The made-for-TV match saw Woods and Kuehne split $1 million for winning while Mickelson and Daly split $400,000. Woods has now won the event four times since it began in 1999.

Mickelson and Daly got a small consolation by sweeping the four long-drive holes. Daly won with drives of 319 yards, 345 yards and 341 yards, and Mickelson got the last one when the other three missed the fairway.
