Over 200 lots of traditional and contemporary pieces of Indian jewellery, including gemstone-studded suites, unique men's accessories, and a selection of exceptional timepieces and accessories will be the highlights of Saffronart's spring auction of fine jewels next week.
The online auction on April 7 and 8 comprises 203 lots of both traditional and contemporary pieces of Indian jewellery and has an aggregate estimate of $2.1-2.4 million. The collection represents a synthesis of traditional aesthetics and sophisticated craftsmanship.
Many pieces have drawn inspiration from traditional Indian motifs, designs and aesthetics.
Among the several lots on offer, is a necklace of diamond-set links, suspending a shield-shaped pendant and weighing approximately 20 carats. It has an estimate of $127,780-144,445 (Rs 57,50,000-65,00,000).
"This auction catalogue highlights the confluence of India's rich aesthetic legacies with current developments in jewellery design. From Colombian emeralds and natural pearls to rare period pieces and one-of-a-kind jewelled objects, our spring online auction presents an appealing range of lots," says Saffronart president Minal Vazirani.
The auction will be accompanied by an illustrated catalogue and exclusive private viewings in New Delhi, Mumbai and New York.
