A 152-yard nine iron shot to within 18 inches of the hole to force a play-off with Spain's Carlos Rodiles at the Volvo Masters of Andalucia earned Swede Fredrik Jacobson the "Shot of the Year" award.
The outstanding shot had a dramatic impact on the outcome of the season-ending tournament as Jacobson subsequently won the title at the fourth extra hole.
The second best shot award went to Lee Westwood's remarkable 224-yard four iron for an albatross two at Kingsbarns, which contributed hugely to the Englishman's subsequent victory in the Dunhill Links championship.
The third best was the 180-yard wedge played by Trevor Immelman at the final hole of the South African Airways Open at Erin Vale GC, Cape Town.
New avatars
Former US Open and Wimbledon champion and world No 1 Lleyton Hewitt was seen in a new role last week, when he carried the bag as a caddie for the legendary Greg Norman at the Australian PGA Championships.
In return Norman plans to be present and cheer for Hewitt at the Australian Open tennis early next year.
Norman who had a five-under 67 on first day and was tied for third, finished the tournament at six-under 282 and tied 20th in the event, which was won by 44-year-old Peter Senior.
All for charity
This week the PGA Tour donated $50,000 to Driving 4 Life, a Massachusetts-based campaign dedicated to finding a cure for ALS.
The disease has stricken two members of the PGA Tour family recently "" former PGA Tour member Jeff Julian and Bruce Edwards, long-time caddie for Tom Watson.
A month ago, when Watson was named the Champions Tour (Over 50 years) Player of the Year, he got the Charles Schwaab Trophy and $1 million annuity, and he donated that entire amount to charity with significant portion going to ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's disease) research. Watson has helped raise almost $3 million for the cause.
