I find that the manufacturer-provided braking system in the Maruti 800 " the now-discontinued 5-speed MPFI version " could do with a lot of improvement.

What is the best means of ensuring a dramatic improvement without compromising safety and ensuring the best results? And how much will the modification cost?

We haven't heard of this being done anywhere before, but since the Zen and the Maruti 800 share a very similar braking system except for the lack of a booster in the M800, you could possibly consider adding the booster from the Zen into the 800's circuit.

As we have mentioned before, we are not too sure about its feasibility, but you could follow this trend of thought and check with a competent mechanic if the conversion can be done... Shouldn't cost you more than about Rs 6,000 , in our estimate.
