In probably what is the largest public art project of its kind, 20 of Mumbai's most sought after artists have displayed their solidarity for the Mumbai Unbreakable project, a public awareness campaign following the train blasts of July 2006.Conceived of by The Arts Trust and the Mumbai police, these works of art have spread their influence across 200 vinyl print hoardings in the city. This unique exhibition was inaugurated on January 26."They may be famous artists but they're citizens of Mumbai first and foremost, so who better to tap for a visual rendition of the city in the aftermath of a terror attack," says Vickram Sethi, chairman, The Arts Trust. From Akbar Padamsee to M F Hussain, Anju Dodiya and Gurcharan Singh, the names read like a catalogue for an A-list auction. But hang on, there is going to be an auction. These works will be hawked, at a later date, to contribute to the Mumbai Unbreakable campaign.
