This is a strange book, a kind of Lonely Planet for a trip to Kailash and Mansarovar in Tibet. Anju Poddar, the chronicler, seems to miss the wood for the trees. While all around her are the most amazing natural sights that very few have been privileged to see, she concentrates, instead, on the mundane practicalities of banal travel details:
