So it wasn't enough that these guys have the world's fastest production 2+2 coupe in the world. Or that they have the fastest production saloon in the world. Nope.

This time around the boys from Crewe are vying for the title of the fastest production convertible. Based on the current Bentley Continental GT, the convertible should have a top speed nearing a hair-raising 320 kph.

Set to go on sale in 2006, the Continental GTC gets the same W12 engine and all-wheel drive system from the coupe. Bentley says that the GTC, in spite of being a convertible, will handle like its tin-top sibling, thanks to the ultra stiff structure.

The GTC will also add yet another accolade to its already impressive record by being the first convertible to come out of Crewe after the ownership changed hands to the German firm, Volkswagen.

Also in the name of tradition, the GTC gets a soft fabric roof that can be stowed below its hide-covered tonneau. We expect the GTC to come to India by mid-2006 and yes, we will drive it.

Twice as nice

The boys from Zuffenhausen are it again.

Just a year after they came up with a masterpiece "" the all-new 911 "" comes yet another legend in the making.

And this time it's threatening to chomp up the tarmac with all four wheels. Yes, the all-wheel drive Porsche is out and what's even better is that you can buy one. Right here, right now.

The Carrera 4 and 4S were launched last week in Mumbai by Porsche Middle East and Africa's new managing director, Deesch Papke. All-wheel drive has added yet another dimension to the 911 and we aren't talking just about the performance.

The Carrera 4 is wider than the standard 911 by 44 mm and is ready for even more dynamic road behaviour. It's available in two versions, the 4 that comes with a 3600cc, 325 bhp boxer-six, capable of hitting the 100 kph mark in 5.1 seconds and the 4S, powered by a 3800cc 355 bhp boxer-six, which will do the same bit in 4.8 seconds and will go on to do 288 kph.

There is a price to pay for all the fun to be had, though. The Carrera 4 will cost you about Rs 75 lakh while the 4S retails for Rs 84 lakh.

Oh, and before we forget, taxes and registration are not included.
