Triumph Motorcycles India is expected to register a growth of 20-25% this fiscal.
The British superbike maker, which has grown five-fold from sales of 500 to 3,000 units in India last fiscal, is planning to become the best-selling sports bike brand in India in 2017.
As of now, Triumph is the second best-selling premium two-wheeler maker in India, next only to Harley Davidson which sold nearly 5,000 units last fiscal.
Triumph currently assembles a handful of its 15-strong product portfolio locally. The new Bonneville range which includes the Street Twin, T120, Thruxton R is expected to be the primary growth driver this fiscal.
Last fiscal, the superbike segment in India posted a 2.85 per cent volume jump at 10,234 units, from 9,940 units in 2014-15. The mass volume market too grew at 2.7 per cent to 18.93 million units. Further, the Indian sportsbike segment witnessed a definitive shift to 500+ cc segment (Rs 5 lakh-plus). This trend is expected to continue this year, making Triumph the biggest beneficiary.
Triumph sells 15 global models in the country through its dealerships in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Indore, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kochi. The company will add three more outlets by the end of this financial year, and is planning to increase the total dealerships to 20 by 2020.
Triumph, which sells models in the 500cc to 2300cc category with a price range of Rs. 6.9 lakh to Rs. 22 lakh in India, is also the only bike company in the country to offer doorstep after-sales service.
