The Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s action on cash-stripped Kingfisher Airlines would depend on the carrier’s response to its show-cause notice delivered on Friday, Union minister for civil aviation Ajit Singh said here on Sunday.
The regulator had slapped a show-cause notice on Kingfisher, asking why its flying licence should not be cancelled or suspended as it had grounded its fleet and failed to offer safe and reliable service.
“It is now up to them (Kingfisher Airlines) to reply to the DGCA and satisfy all the concerns about operational safety and reliability,” he told mediapersons here.
Replying to a query on whether the airline's licence would be cancelled, Singh said it depended on the company's reply to the DGCA notice. “Our action will depend on the reply that the carrier gives within the stipulated time,” he said, adding the airline would have to come out with a concrete plan on how it would mobilise funds to get the carrier back on its feet.
