Around 12 global companies, including Bombardier, Siemens and three Chinese companies, have shown interest in building coaches for the Hyderabad metro rail project, said NVS Reddy, managing director, Hyderabad Metro Rail.
“The tender is expected to be finalised by September 2011,” he said. There would around 200 coaches, each costing Rs 9-10 crore. In the first phase, the metro expects to have 150 cars, which would be increased to six per train from the initial three cars.
Reddy said around 200,000 jobs would be created after the project is over. Around 50,000 workforce is required.
Stating that there were a couple of public interest litigations (PILs) pending, he said two land acquisition cases had been cleared by the High Court and five were pending.
The ground work is expected to start by May third week.
