13 firms submit RFQs for Jharkhand UMPPBS Reporter / New Delhi November 12, 2007As many as 13 companies have evinced interest in developing the 4,000 MW Tilaiya ultra-mega power plant (UMPP) in Jharkhand - the fourth power project of similar capacity in line.Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Lanco Infratech, Reliance Power, Sterlite, Tata Power, AES, Dian Wijaya (Malaysia), Torrent Power, Essar, GVK, Citra, NTPC and Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL) submitted their request for qualification (RFQs) to the Power Finance Corporation (PFC), which is the nodal agency for implementing mega power projects."This is a fairly good response," said a PFC official. Incidentally, the government had re-invited bids for the Tilaiya project.While Anil Dhirubhai Ambani led Reliance Power has already bagged two projects - 4,000 MW pit-head coal based project in Sasan in Madhya Pradesh and another one based on imported coal at Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, Tata Power is building a 4,000 MW mega-plant at Mundra in Gujarat.The Tilaiya project is similar to Sasan as both are based on pit-head coal.
