Bangalore Bio, the flagship biotechnology event promoted by government of Karnataka and Vision Group on Biotechnology, is expected to see participation of over 20 countries in its 13th edition.
The countries which have agreed their participation in Bangalore India Bio 2013 include the US, Germany, France, UK, Holland, Spain, Italy, Korea, Canada, Australia, China and Japan, according to the organisers.
To be held between 4-6 February in 2013, the next edition of Bangalore Bio will focus on deal making trends, biosimilars, regenerative medicine, molecular biotechnology and Bio Informatics, vaccines and clinical research among others.
The theme for Bangalore Bio 2013 will be 'Biotechnology for a better tomorrow’.
According to Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, CMD of Biocon, who is also the Chairperson of Karnataka’s Vision Group on Biotechnology, intellectual property-related issues would be one of the key areas the event will focus on.
The domestic biotechnology industry in India stands at about Rs 20,000 crore, the majority of which comes from bio-pharmaceuticals.
