About 20 information technology (IT) companies, both international and Indian multinationals, are expected to establish their centres in Hyderabad over the next eight to 12 months, according to Jayesh Ranjan, secretary (IT, electronics and communications), Telangana government.

"They are in advanced stages of discussion with us. We expect formal announcements to be made by them on the same, pretty soon," he told mediapersons here on Friday.

Commenting on Google's recent announcement on building its largest campus outide of the US in Hyderabad, Ranjan said that the state government had already transfered the required land to the search engine major. "According to the communique that we received, Google is expected to lay the foundation stone for its own centre in Hyderabad in the first quarter of next year," he said.

The state ITE&C secretary said the draft for the new IT policy had already been approved and would be launched post the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, which were scheduled to be held in January 2016.

Stating that the IT policy had been drafted in consultation with the Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association (Hysea), he said the policy would lay emphasis on taking IT beyond Hyderabad and expand to Tier-II and Tier-III cities in the state.

"As part of the policy, we have identified Warangal, Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Khammam to develop mini-IT hubs," he said, adding the state government was in the process of developing the initial plug-and-play infrastructure for prospective companies.

Speaking on the occasion of Hysea's silver jubilee celebrations, Nasscom chairman, and founder and executive chairman of Hyderabad-based Cyient Limited, BVR Mohan Reddy said despite some IT companies had announced a likely negative impact of 100 bpc on their Q3 results, Nasscom was not going to revise the IT industry's revenue estimates.

"They (IT firms) lost three full working days and four partially. Now, most of them are coming back to normalcy," Reddy said.

Drawing up Hysea's roadmap for 2016, association president and managing director of Progress Software, Ramesh Loganathan, said Hysea would be instituting Silver Jubilee awards and product showcase events, which would seek applications from 150 startups of which 35 finalists would showcase their products.

"Besides bringing out a national list of top 25 leaders, SMEs and startups, we are looking at institutionalising Car-Free Thursdays (CFT) with the help of the police and the state IT department," he said.
