Tata Engineering appears well on its recovery path with a 20.5 per cent rise in commercial vehicle sales to 8,942 in September and a 33 per cent rise in the sales of its passenger car Indica to 7,208 cars. Sales of passenger vehicles increased 27 per cent to 9,266 vehicles.
Tata Engineering, according to a press release, sold 18,208 vehicles in the Indian market in September 2002, an increase of 23.7 per cent against 14,721 vehicles sold in September 2001.
During the first half of the year, the company sold 45,598 commercial vehicles, clocking a growth of 32 per cent.

Medium and heavy commercial vehicles sales during the first half of the year stood at 31,098, a growth of 31 per cent, while light commercial vehicle sales grew 34.3 per cent to 14,500 vehicles.
During the first six months the company sold 46,609 cars, a growth of 19.5 per cent.
Tata Engineerings market share in the passenger cars segment stands at 14 per cent against 12 per cent in April-September 2001, the press release said.
