As part of the Rs 500-crore capex plan for capacity expansion, Triveni Engineering And Industries has decided to put up three more sugar plants in western Uttar Pradesh by 2007. |
"All these three new plants would come up in the western sugar belt of Uttar Pradesh," said Dhruv M Sawhney, chairman and managing director of the company. |
The decision to put up the mills in western UP was taken due to the abundance of sugarcane in the region and less dependence on rainfall for production. |
The first of the three plants would start functioning by the beginning of the next sugarcane cultivation season while the other two would come up in the next two years, he added. |
The company had already acquired land for the first plant at Sabitgarh in the Bulandshar district last year. The cane crushing capacity per day of this plant is expected to be between 5,000-7,000 tonnes. Deoband and Khatauli have been finalised as the other two plant sites. |
