3-Wheeler Goods Carrier Sector Logs 56% Growth

The three-wheeler goods carriers sector has emerged as the largest growing in the domestic auto industry in the first four months of the fiscal.

Between April and July, three-wheeler goods carriers have posted a 56 per cent growth to 15,806 units from 10,142 units in the corresponding period last year.

Sales of light buses, which dropped in the previous fiscal, have recovered to grow almost 55 per cent to 6,237 units.

The light truck sales also posted a 45 per cent growth to 15,577 units during the four months against 10,142 units during the same period last fiscal, according to the latest figures from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.

The motorcycle/step-through segment posted a growth of 47.08 per cent in the domestic market with sales of 11.83 lakh units against 8.04 lakh units between April and July 2001.
