Abhishek Industries, an arm firm of Punjab-based Trident group, today said it is aiming at Rs 100 crore increase in its sales revenue through paper business in the current fiscal.

"Last year, the group entered into copier business by launching two brands 'My Choice' and 'Spectra' through our wheat-straw based paper mill and now with our new brand 'Lotus', we are now entering into premier segment," Trident Group Managing Director and CEO Rajinder Gupta said.

With the introduction of Lotus, the group is now eying a 10 per cent share in Rs 1,800 domestic copier business segment and is hoping for a Rs 100 crore incremental revenue over the next one year in the copier business, Gupta said.

The company had reported a revenue of Rs 480 crore through paper business out of which copier contributes around Rs 125 crore. In the current financial year, it is targetting a revenue of more than Rs 580 crore, out of which around Rs 225 crore would come through copier business.

Last year, Abhishek Industries had set up a paper mill with a capacity of 175,000 tonne per annum in Barnala, Punjab through a technical collaboration with European paper making machines producer 'Metso', which uses wheat straw pulp as the raw material instead of wooden pulp.

"Using wheat straw serves the twin purpose of keeping the environment clean and helping farmers by adding to their income," Gupta said, while adding that the mill is now not running at full capacity and it would take another two years for the mill to exhaust the capacity.

The company reported a total revenue of Rs 2,500 crore through the paper segment and besides paper, it has business interests in textiles and chemicals.
