Cement manufacturer ACC has said that it has no plans to increase the prices of the commodity in Delhi, even as it clarified that it has not increased the prices in the capital.
“We would like to clarify that ACC has not increased prices in Delhi since 1st April and has no plans of increasing price in Delhi in near future,” ACC Chief Commercial Officer J DattaGupta said in a statement here today.
The retail price of ACC cement is currently quoted in the range of Rs 233-235 in different parts of the city as compared to Rs 240-242 per bag a month back, a reduction of Rs 5 per bag.
During the corresponding months of the previous year (April-May 2008) the retail prices in Delhi for ACC Cement was Rs 240-242 per bag.
ACC also said that with large capacity additions expected in the next two quarters, prices would stabilise from July onwards.
The company also said that Pakistan cement producers are despatching their surplus produce at marginal costing. They have reduced price from $75-76 per metric ton to $52-53 per MT now. The quantity imported via Wagah border in the current month is expected to be around 45-50000 MT which was also the case in the corresponding month of the previous year.
