ACC today reported a 15.64 per cent jump in its net profit to Rs 16.93 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2001, up from Rs 14.64 crore in the corresponding period last year. Earning per share (not annualised) increased to Rs 0.99 versus Rs 0. 86 in the third quarter of last year.
The net profit for the quarter includes a Rs 9.96 crore provision for deferred tax (last year: nil). Excluding this provision, ACC would have reported a 81.99 per cent jump in its net profit to Rs 26.89 crore (Rs 14.64 crore).
Turnover increased 11.21 per cent to Rs 814.07 crore in the quarter ended December 2001 from Rs 731.98 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.

Of the total sales, cement sales during the quarter were Rs 732.59 crore against Rs 649.45 crore in the previous year. Refractories, ready mix concrete and other businesses contributed Rs 43.16 crore, Rs 23.76 crore, 20.29 crore, respectively, to the total turnover.
