ACC today reported a 30% increase in net profit at Rs 292.42 crore for the third quarter ended September 30, 2007 when compared with Rs 224.81 crore in Q3FY06.Total income moved up 22% to Rs 1,707.20 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2007 from Rs 1,400.26 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2006.Higher sales, improved realisations and good demand helped the company report good quarterly numbers. The company is in the process of expanding its manufacturing capacity from the current 20 million tonne per annum to over 27 million tonne within two years. During the September quarter, the operating profit rose 24% to Rs 480.88 crore when compared with Rs 387.69 crore last year. The cement major, which has 14 plants located across the country, produced 4.78 million tonne during the September quarter, up 15% from 4.16 million tonne produced during the same period last year. The company sold 4.76 million tonne, up 13% from 4.2 million tonne sold in the corresponding period last year.
