The Central excise and service tax payers covered under the Bhubaneswar-I commissionerate can now make online transactions with the roll out of the Automation of Central Excise and Service Tax (ACES) at the commissionerate.

The ACES facility was launched today for the Bhubaneswar-I commissionerate, making it the 55th commissionerate in the country to have such a facility. It may be noted that the ACES facility was rolled out at the Bhubaneswar-II commissionerate nearly six months back.

The ACES system was launched by M Suresh, commissioner, Bhubaneswar-I, in the presence of A K Srivastava, chairman and managing director (CMD), National Aluminium Company (Nalco); K Raghuramaiah, chairman, Paradeep Port Trust (PPT); P K Dash, commissioner, Bhubaneswar-II commissionerate and Manish Chandra, additional director (customs and central excise) of the Union ministry of finance.

The implementation of ACES will enable the assessees to make electronic filing of returns, claims, intimations and permissions. The new facility will save time and transaction cost for the assessees and also reduce their physical interface with the department of Central Excise and Service Tax.

With the roll out of ACES, the commissionerate will have an electronic workflow of jobs covering all major processes like registrations, returns, intimations, refunds and exports pertaining to Central Excise and Service tax.

This apart, there will be an application data centre containing a huge volume of information to cater to the needs of the taxpayers.
