Adani Port sets record in coal handling in a day

Adani Ports & SEZ Ltd (APSEZ), part of Adani Group, on Thursday set a new national record in coal handling in a day at its Mundra Port. The country's largest port developer handled 151,229 metric tonnes of steam coal in past 24 hours at the Mundra port.

Mundra port's West Basin terminal handled the steam coal from MV Cape Fushen, Large Cape Vessel, carrying steam coal of Indonesian Steam Coal of M/s. Adani Power Limited (APL) thus setting a new national record in coal cargo handling in the country.

The Mundra Port's West Basin terminal surpassed the last recorded best coal discharge performance nationally of 122,247 metric tonnes and further surpassed its own record of 115,119 metric tonnes set in January 2012.

Speaking about the record handling, GJ Rao of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd said, "This is a great milestone for Mundra port and the credit goes to our state of the art mechanized automated safe facilities and to our young employees who have toiled day and night to ensure that West Basin emerges as the best coal import terminal in the world." Mundra Port has an annual handling capacity of 180 million tones. Meanwhile, the current handling capacity of west port is 60 MMT of coal per annum.
