Advinus ties up with Veeda

The Tata group-promoted drug research company Advinus Therapeutics has tied up with Veeda Clinical Research, an Anglo-Indian clinical rresearch organisation (CRO) to leverage each other's capabilities to create an integrated advance drug discovery platform.

While Advinus is the country's first dedicated drug discovery company headed by former Ranbaxy R&D chief Rashmi Barbhaiya and other senior pharma scientists, Veed CR is one of the globally known clinical research company with specialised clinical pharmacology units in Plymouth in UK and Ahmedabad in India.

The alliance will offer packages involving preclinical and early clinical development, animal and human safety pharmacology, preclinical toxicology and pharmacology, clinical pharmacology as also microdosing capabilities to pick drug candidates on the basis of human data. The alliance will seek to leverage Veeda's biomarkers capabilities for preclinical and clinical applications.

Industry analysts believe that this alliance will set a new precedence in the emerging drug discovery industry in India and will attract companies looking for preclinical and clinical services in the European and American geographies.
