Describing the merger of the erstwhile Indian Airlines and Air India in 2007 as the main cause for financial woes of the company, several employee unions that appeared before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) told Parliamentarians that they were not taken in confidence at the time of the merger.
Senior representatives of the Indian Airlines Officers Association, Indian Aircraft Technicians Association, Air India Aircraft Engineers Association and Airlines Ground Instructors Association appeared before the PAC, as witnesses, to discuss the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) on the performance of civil aviation in the country.
