Air India, Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines today announced resumption of flights to Europe following the opening of European airspace.
Air India began its operations with its daily flights from Delhi to Paris and Frankfurt. The national carrier will also fly to Europe, the US and Canada and an additional Mumbai-London-Mumbai flight on Friday.
Jet Airways will fly to London from Delhi and Mumbai through its hub in Brussels. The private carrier also plans to launch an additional Mumbai-London-Mumbai service soon.
Kingfisher Airlines cancelled its services for today but would commence flights between Delhi, Mumbai and London from tomorrow.
Official figures show around 30,000 air travellers are stranded in India, primarily in Delhi and Mumbai. “There could be some problems as airlines might have some constraints clearing the backlog of stranded passengers,” said Ajay Prakash, general secreatry, Travel Agents Federation of India.
