"Air Canada's flights to New Delhi are timed for convenient connections across the airline's North American network," the airline said in a statement today.

In India, convenient connections are also available with Air India and other interline partners to such cities as Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and other destinations throughout South East Asia, it added.

"This is indeed a milestone moment for Air Canada and I believe the beginning of an exciting growth path for the airline in the region," Air Canada's VP (Global Sales) Duncan Bureau said.

The addition of this route is very much aligned with our growth strategy, expanding our network and becoming an international powerhouse, he noted.

It is Canada's largest domestic and international airline serving over 200 airports spread across six continents.
