"We have filed an application with Sebi, and the matter is in the process," John Kuruvilla, chief revenue officer of Air Deccan, said.
He declined to divulge details about the size and timing of the IPO, saying the amount raised would be utilised for a major expansion plan of the airline.
On acquisition of aircraft, he said the airline has placed orders for A320s and ATR42s, adding that the fleet strength would rise to 90 by the end of 2010 from the present level of 20 planes.
Air Deccan now has a fleet strength of 6 A-320s and 14 ATRs connecting 150 destinations across the country.
"Air Deccan would hire 50% of aircraft on wet lease, while the remaining would be purchased outright," Kuruvilla said.
