The grant of approval as TRTO by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) means the CTE, Air India's premier civil aviation-related training institution, which conducts technical training classes for pilots, can also hold evaluation tests for pilots of A320 on its own, Capt C J Bhoopal, executive director (Training) of the CTE said today.

Earlier, the evaluation used to be conducted by the DGCA. The TRTO approval came six weeks ago and the CTE has conducted the Type Rating examination for 52 pilots on the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737-800 aircraft on May 30, he said.
