Confronted with spiralling aviation turbine fuel prices airlines which include both low cost carriers and full service carriers are slated to increase their fares by 5 % to 10% per cent across all sectors, from tomorrow. LCCs like IndiGo and Spice Jet have increased fuel surcharge by Rs 300 for distances below 750 kilometres and by Rs 550 for sectors over 750 kilometres. Jet Airways have increased their basic fares instead of increasing their fuel surcharge. For distance less than 750 kms Jet Airways will have a minimum basic fare of Rs 1000 and for sectors between 750 to 1000 kms the minimum basic fare will stand at Rs 2250 while for distances above Rs 1000 kilometres the basic fare will be Rs 3,000. Earlier the basic fare used to vary from Rs 750 to Rs 950 across sectors and distances depending on competition. Subsidiary carrier Jet Lite will have minimum fares of Rs 500 for distance below 750 kilometres, Rs 1500 for distances between 750 kilometres to 1000 kilometres and Rs 2,000 for distances above 1000 kilometres. Kingfisher Airlines said that they are evaluating an increase in the fares and would take a decision in the next two to three days. National carrier Air India will have three slab basic structure. For distances below 750 kilometres the basic fare will Rs 1000. For distances between 750-1000 kilometres the minimum fare will be Rs 2350 and for distances above 1000 kilometres the minimum fare will be Rs 3000.
