Domestic air traffic continued its growth momentum in October and witnessed a passenger growth of 25 per cent to 4 million from 3.2 million during the same period last year.
Passenger traffic, compared with September this year, grew 11 per cent during October. Around 3.9 million passengers travelled by domestic airlines in October, whereas only 3.5 million passengers had opted for air travel in September.
Among the airlines, Jet Airways and its subsidiary Jetlite, whose passenger count fell last month due to the pilot’s strike, emerged as the leader at 27.7 per cent followed by Kingfisher at 20.7 per cent.
The government carrier Air India (Domestic) improved its market share to 18.6 per cent from 17.5 per cent last month.
Among the low-cost carriers, IndiGo commanded the maximum share at 14.3 per cent followed by SpiceJet at 13.2 per cent, GoAir at 5.8 per cent and Paramount at 2.0 per cent.
