Air traffic up 18.3 per cent in October

Airlines reported a passenger growth of 18.3 per cent in October this year to 4.6 million. The passenger figure during the same period last year was of 3.9 million, showed a data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Among the airlines, Jet Airways group continued to be the market leader with 26.2 per cent of the total market. Kingfisher Airlines came second with 19 per cent of the total pie followed by the national carrier Air India at 17.7 per cent.

Among the low-cost carriers, IndiGo maintained the lead by carrying 16.8 per cent of the total passenger in the market. SpiceJet was at second with 13.6 per cent and GoAir was third with 6.6 per cent.
