AirAsia India confident on starting operations in Dec or Jan: CEO

Will have 3 aircraft to begin with, says the company

AirAsia India said that it is likely to commence flying by December or January. The airline also said to start with, it will have three aircraft.

Speaking on the sidelines of Madras Management Association’s All India Management Students Convention here on Friday, Mittu Chandilya, chief executive officer, Air Asia India said, “If everything goes well, we will commence operations by December or January.”

Three hundred people have been recruited so far and they are training in Malaysia across all the verticals.

He noted, each plane will have 90-100 people.

Chandilya also said the airline is talking to various state governments to understand what kind of benefits it can get from them and what the government expects from the airline.

To a question on the reaction to the Tatas joining hands with Singapore Airlines, he said, “We have an entirely separate board, no conflict of interest from my perspective.”
