Malaysia-based low-cost carrier AirAsia will launch its operations in India with a daily direct flight between Kuala Lumpur and Tiruchirapalli from December 1.
AirAsia would commence its daily direct flight to Tiruchirapalli from Kuala Lumpur from December 1 with a brand new fleet of Airbus A-320, a company statement said here today.
The airlines has also announced special fares of Rs 699 (excluding airport taxes, fuel surcharges, etc) to celebrate the maiden launch, the statement said.
The offer would be applicable on tickets booked bewteen October 30-November 9, 2008, for travel between till July 31, 2009. It said.
"In addition to Tiruchirapalli, we are looking into other destinations in India within the next one-and-a-half year," AirAsia's Chief Executive Officer Tony Fernandes said in the release.
The destinations include Chennai, Kolkata, Cochin, Bangalore, Fernandes said, adding "the airline is also looking at options of flying to New Delhi and Mumbai with its long-haul service, AirAsia X".
