Airlines Plan Action On Low Emirates Rates

International airlines led by Air-India have decided to band together against Emirates and move the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) against the Dubai-based airline undercutting them in tariffs.

Airline sources said whenever the issue had been raised, Emirates said it charged a lower fare because of the inconvenience caused by the mandatory stopover in Dubai. The fares are at such levels that passengers prefer to take a longer route.

Some officials, however, pointed out that there was no law that prevented an airline or any company from charging a lower price.

Jamshed Mohta, sales manager, Emirates (Mumbai), claimed,
