Airtel has launched 'Platinum 3G' network in Lucknow to offer better voice and data quality and speed.
Airtel Hub CEO Dhruv Bhagat said Platinum 3G helps optimize the backend engagement between the network and mobile devices and this allows extended battery life.
The company has 20 million subscribers in Uttar Pradesh (East) Circle and a network of 10,000 cell sites. Airtel covers 95 percent of the geography in the circle through 2G and 3G services.
Population wise, UP (East) is one of the largest telecom circles in India with a predominantly rural character.
Commenting on the growth in rural areas, Bhagat said data adoption had been quite encouraging in the hinterland.
