Electric Division of Kutch-based Ajanta Manufacturing Ltd (AML) is planning to set up a glass tube plant for CFLs (Compact Fluorescent Lamps) adjacent to its existing facility at Samakhayali, in Kutch district of Gujrat at an investment of Rs. 10 crore.
“Our glass tube plant is already under construction and expected to start commercial operation in the next two months by October 2009. An investment for this project is estimated at around Rs. 10 crore. This plant will have a capacity of 1.5 lakh units per day. Glass tubes are approximately 45 per cent of CFL component costs, and manufacturing glass tubes in-house will enable us to reduce our production costs and improve our price competitiveness,” the senior company official told Business Standard.
Electric Division of AML registered the sales turn over of Rs. 245 crore in FY 2008-09 and has set the sales turn over target of Rs. 300 crore for the current FY 2009-10.
Moreover, the company has also introduced new product- ‘Oreva Power Saver’ in three cities of Maharashtra- Mumbai, Kolhapur and Nashik. The company is planning to launch this product in Gujrat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan in the current FY 2009-10, and expect sale of 50,000 units of ‘Oreva Power Saver’ per month in the current financial year. The company claims, this product saves upto 30 per cent on electricity bill, increases life of motor and other appliances, eliminates power surges and reduce noise in electrical system.
AML has four divisions- Electric, Vitrified tiles, ACPs (Aluminum Composite Panels) and E-Bikes. AML manufacture all products for these four divisions in a single integrated facility spread over 181 acres at Samakhayli in Kutch district of Gujrat.
