Consumer electronics manufacturer Akai hopes to garner 7 per cent market share in Rs 1,800 crore Indian battery industry in the next 12 months, a top company official said here today.
"The Indian battery industry is Rs 1,800-crore market and we aim to gain 7 per cent market share in the first year of operations," Country head Unitech Trades and Imports, an Indian marketing arm of Akai, S L Narayanan told reporters here.
He was speaking after the company launched zinc chloride, alkaline, rechargeable and ready-to-use batteries in the Tamil Nadu market.
Narayanan said, the products have already been launched in four states and would be launched in another five states in few weeks.
He said Akai has plans to launch CFL lamps, lanterns and torches.
The company has 1,200 channel partners nationwide, of which 110 are in Tamil Nadu.
