Aksh launches IPTV without broadband connection

Aksh, a manufacturer of cable and optical fibers would start service under the brand name of 'icontrol' in Mumbai and Delhi, where the state-run telecom firm MTNL has a strong base.     

The company, which is planning to invest around Rs 150 crores in its IPTV and voice over internet protocol platform would provide more than 100 channels to its customers.     

'icotrol' would have all major popular entertainment channels from the Star and Sony group and sports channels from Neo and Ten Sports.     

Aksh has also entered with an agreement with telecom giant BSNL and MTNL and aims a strong presence in urban and rural areas where the government-controlled telecom firms have vast subscriber base.     

IPTV is a system where a digital television service is delivered using internet protocol through a network infrastructure, mostly delivered through a broadband Internet connection.
