Akzo Nobel Q2 net profit at Rs 45 cr

During the quarter, total income of the company stood at Rs 511.3 crore

Paints and coatings firm Akzo Nobel India today reported a net profit of Rs 44.8 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2012.

The company had posted a profit of Rs 26.3 crore in the corresponding period of previous fiscal, Akzo Nobel India Ltd said in a statement.

During the quarter, total income of the company stood at Rs 511.3 crore, while the same was Rs 301.5 crore during the same period of 2011-12 fiscal.

The company said current quarter's performance is not directly comparable with the corresponding quarter of the last financial year since the current quarter reflects the performance of the recently merged company.

Commenting on the results Akzo Nobel India Managing Director Amit Jain said: "All coatings and chemical business segments continue to demonstrate robust growth propelled by new product innovations and capacity additions."

He added that due to uncertain market conditions, the company's businesses have taken appropriate measures on containing costs to protect margins.

Shares of  Akzo Nobel today closed at Rs 939.90 on the BSE, up 1.02% from its previous close.
