Global networking major Alcatel today commissioned a $2 million simulation and testing lab at advanced technology support firm SlashSupport's facility in Chennai.

With this fresh investment, the number of customer installations supported by SlashSupport has doubled to 1000. SlashSupport started its advanced tech support service to Alcatel 18 months ago.

Until recently the support was only for the legacy systems of Alcatel. The fresh investments received from Alcatel will now allow SlashSupport to service clients in some of the recent product offering space too.

Shiva Ramani, CEO, SlashSupport, said, "The investments made by Alcatel will be used for leveraging our presence in the advanced tech support space. The skills we pick up by servicing this company can be effectively used to procure more businesses in the same space." Ramani said the company is already in talks with over a dozen firms in Europe for increasing its client list.

Alcatel vice-president, Steve Tufts, said, "The overbearing reason for increasing outsourced support service from India was the cost advantage."
