Vadodara-based Alembic Limited's net profit for the financial year ended 31 March, 2010 increased to Rs 39.54 crore as compared to Rs 10.82 crore last fiscal. The pharmaceutical company reported net sales for the fiscal at Rs 1,149 crores as against Rs 1,134 crores in previous year, which shows a rise of only 1 per cent.
The sales for the fourth quarter of 2009-10 stood at Rs 267 crores as compared to Rs 259 crores in the corresponding quarter previous year. "The Company reported a net profit of Rs 0.42 crores for the quarter ended March 31, 2010 as against net loss of Rs 1.47 crores posted in the same period of last fiscal," the company said in a release.
