Thanks to bouyancy in the industry, Vadodara based pharmaceutical major Alembic has reported a 180% jump in its net profit, at Rs 45.59 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2007, as compared to Rs 16.28 crore for the corresponding previous quarter.Sales of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in the domestic market and entry into the markets of US and Europe has helped the company secure better margins.Its income from operations increased by 51% to Rs 315.31 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2007, as against Rs 209.19 crore posted in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.A release from the company stated that its domestic formulation business grew by 27% to Rs 194.17 crore from Rs 153.23 crore in the corresponding previous quarter. The acquired business has been seamlessly integrated with its operations.
