In Chennai city alone, it hopes to sell 1000 units of City by the end of this financial year. The company officials, at the launch of new Honda City here , said that of the total number of 1000 cars expected to be sold in Chennai, close to 60 per cent would be the new version of City.
The new Honda City, priced at Rs 1.08 lakh less than the earlier version also comes with a 70 per cent indigenous content. Officials from the company said that the advanced combustion system of the 1.5 litre Intelligent Dual & Sequential Ignition (iDSI) engine also enables 40 per cent higher fuel efficiency. Honda Siel has invested close to Rs 150 crore towards the development of the new City.
The new 1.5 EXi and 1.5 GXi models are priced at Rs 6.87 lakh and Rs 7.28 lakh (ex-showroom in Chennai) respectively. The 1.5 GXi-CVT is priced at Rs 7.88 lakh, ex-showroom in Chennai.
Neeraj Garg, the assistant general manager of Honda Siel, said the company expects to sell close to 12,000 units of City by the end of the financial year.
