Integrated textile company Alok Industries today announced a net profit of Rs 167.34 crore for the financial year 2007-08, up 23.79 per cent from the Rs 135.18 crore in the last fiscal. The company's net sales increased by 18.34 per cent at Rs 2,159.25 crore in FY 08 as against Rs 1,824.68 crore last year, a company release said.
In the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2008, the company reported a 24.45 per cent increase in its net profit at Rs 60.98 crore as against Rs 49 crore in the corresponding period last year.
The net sales for the reporting quarter was Rs 724.79 crore, up 26.25 per cent as against Rs 574.08 crore in the year-ago period.
Export sales for FY 08 increased 59.87 per cent to Rs 1,025.87 crore as against Rs 641.71 crore while in Q4 FY 08, exports grew 50.16 per cent at Rs 385.45 crore, the release added.
Genpact Q1 net jumps 11 times to Rs 79 cr

NYSE-listed Genpact, India's largest business process outsourcing firm, has posted a net income of $19.7 million (about Rs 79 crore) for the first quarter ended March 2008, up 11 times from $1.80 million (about Rs 7.2 crore) recorded in the corresponding quarter of the last financial year.
The company's revenue for the quarter was at $234.4 million (Rs 937.6 crore), a 33 per cent growth over the $175.9 million (Rs 703.6 crore) in the previous corresponding period.
Sequentially (compared to the previous quarter), net income dipped by 36.8 per cent from $31.2 million (Rs 126.4 crore, at Rs 40.43 to a dollar during the Oct-Dec 2007 period) and revenue was up marginally by 1.2 per cent from $231.6 million (Rs 936.3 crore).
Pramod Bhasin, president and CEO, Genpact, said: "We continue to expect revenues for the full year to grow organically by 25-27 per cent over 2007.
We are continuing to drive efficiencies in our operations and benefit from improved pricing. We expect our adjusted income from operations margin to improve by 10 to 30 basis points."
The company said revenues from global clients increased 121 per cent over the first quarter of 2007 (growth with existing clients, or organic growth, was 113 per cent).
Revenues from GE grew one per cent in the first quarter over that in the previous corresponding period. This excludes revenues from businesses divested by GE in 2007, all of which Genpact continues to serve and whose revenues are included in global client revenues. Genpact expects GE revenues to increase in the mid-single digits this year, excluding the revenues from businesses divested by GE last year.
As of March 31, 2008, Genpact had 34,300 employees worldwide, an increase from 32,700 at the end of 2007. The company's attrition rate for the first quarter this year was 25 per cent as compared with 30 per cent in 2007.
The earnings per common share were $0.09, up from a loss of $0.22 a share in the first quarter of 2007.
Koutons Retail Q4 net at Rs 36 cr
Koutons Retail India on Friday reported a net profit of Rs 36 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2008, while net sales stood at Rs 371.30 crore for the same period. The results of the last quarter of 2007-08 are not comparable with that of the corresponding quarter in the earlier financial year as the company was not listed at that time.
The company's profit after tax for the year ended March 31, 2008 rose 100 per cent to Rs 69.08 crore as against Rs 34.49 crore last year.
"The 100 per cent rise in profits in 2007-08 was driven by expansion of Charlie Outlaw brand across the smaller markets that contributed around Rs 216 crore to the total sales of Rs 793.50 crore in the year. While, the brand Koutons contributed Rs 564 crore to the overall sales," Koutons Retail India Chairman DPS Kohli said.
While, the net sales for the year ended March 31, 2008 grew 97 per cent to Rs 793.50 crore as compared to Rs 402.40 crore in the previous fiscal.
The company's earnings per share (EPS) for FY08 stood at Rs 23.65.
He said in the coming year, the company's focus will be on Lesfemme (womens' wear) and Koutons Jr (kids wear), which will continue to maintain the robust growth of the company.
Koutons Retail also plans to add around 650 new stores across different formats this year. It operates more than 1,193 outlets in the country offering a wide range of apparels.
